Announcement of Opportunity: Constructing a Digital Environment champion

Je-S open date: 19 October 2018

Closing date: 15 November 2018

Interviews: January 2019

NERC is inviting applications for a digital environment champion who will oversee and coordinate a new Strategic Priorities Fund programme, Constructing a Digital Environment. Funds of up to £175,000 (at 80% full economic cost, for up to 0·5 full time equivalent) are available for the duration of the programme (3·5 years, until 2021-2022).

The Constructing the Digital Environment programme is being led by NERC, but is supported by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council and Defra. The programme aims to develop a digitally-enabled environment; an integrated network of sensors (in situ and remote sensing based), methodologies and tools for assessing, analysing, monitoring and forecasting the state of the natural environment at higher spatial resolutions and finer temporal scales than previously possible.

The champion will need to have an understanding of the current research landscape and environmental data in the digital space and will represent the programme both within NERC and the supporting parties, and externally where necessary.

Further information on the call and how to submit an application can be found in the Announcement of Opportunity document below.
