2017-18 and 2018-19 Advanced Training Short Courses (ATSC)

Advanced Training Short Courses are fully funded training courses in priority skills areas with places offered as a priority to NERC-funded PhD students as well as early career researchers within the environmental sciences. The 2017-18 and 2018-19 NERC ATSC training awards have been announced and will be taking place until 31 March 2019. Information regarding individual courses and their application processes can be found on the relevant host institution websites.

Policy Internships Scheme

The Policy Internships Scheme provides the opportunity for PhD students funded by the research councils of UK Research & Innovation to work for three months in one of a selected group of highly influential policy organisations.

NERC Data Management Online Training Portal: Data Tree

Data Tree offers free online training in data management with particular reference to NERC's remit. The training is open to all but is aimed at PhD students and early career researchers and is a continuing professional development certified course. Data Tree consists of eight modules focused on data management, data application, and data and research. The course is self-paced and should take 15 to 20 hours to complete.
