NERC-FNR joint funding

Satellite image of Western EuropeNERC and our UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) partners work in partnership with the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) to encourage and support proposals that involve international collaborative teams.

This agreement not only avoids double jeopardy in funding applications, it also demonstrates our commitment to an open and inclusive European Research Area by removing some of the barriers facing international research collaboration. A Statement of Intent - external link - was signed in September 2013 with RCUK (now UKRI), and resigned in 2016 for a further five years.

Proposals will be accepted for collaborative research in any single or cross-disciplinary area which fits within the remit of FNR and NERC. All applications must be submitted through UKRI's Joint Electronic Submission (Je-S) system.

See the FNR guidance document (PDF) - external link for information on how to submit a proposal to NERC in collaboration with FNR-funded researchers.
