SHEAR Announcement of Opportunity: Integration and Impact proposals
Closing date: 16:00 (BST/UTC+1) on 14 May 2019
Proposals are invited for the Integration and Impact call as part of the Science for Humanitarian Emergencies & Resilience (SHEAR) programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and NERC.
Integration and Impact projects should build on two or more current SHEAR projects (SHEAR Research Consortia, Catalyst Grants and the Building Resilience to Disasters Using Financial Instruments programme). Involvement of other relevant programmes is welcome where this will support the delivery of the goals of the Integration and Impact call.
Projects must address the SHEAR objectives and the proposed work must be oriented towards maximised impact for stakeholders in disaster risk and prediction in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia. To achieve this, projects should include a range of environmental and social research and innovation activities, and stakeholder engagement should be a key component of the Integration and Impact projects.
It is anticipated that 10-15 projects of varying size and length will be funded. The total available budget for this call is £1 million, with a maximum project cost to NERC of £150,000; this is made up of UK institutions eligible for standard 80% full economic cost, with the usual exceptions paid at 100% and non-UK organisations eligible for 100% direct project costs. The earliest expected start date is October 2019, but projects may start later if they wish to do so. All projects must be completed by March 2021.
Closed call: This is a closed call and is only open to principal investigators and co-investigators of the current SHEAR Research Consortia and Catalyst projects, and the Building Resilience to Disasters Using Financial Instruments call. Any other applications received will be rejected and not assessed.
Proposals must be submitted via email to email@example.com before 16:00 (BST/UTC+1) on 14 May 2019.
Please see the full Announcement of Opportunity document below for further details of the call.
