Networks of Sensors - Demonstration High Resolution Networks

Programme overview

The Networks of Sensors - Demonstration High Resolution Networks programme was a five-year NERC research programme (2010-2014) that was intended to deliver up to five collaborative demonstration projects exploiting the potential of distributed high density networks of sensors, with the objective of discovering new insights into the environment. The programme provided funding for projects at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 5 and above.

Background & objectives

The Networks of Sensors - Demonstration High Resolution Networks research programme was focused on developing new technological approaches to the deployment of sensors, some of which may be in remote and/or hostile environments. It contributed to the technologies science theme challenge on "intelligent field sensors and networks of sensors".

The programme also provided an opportunity for HEIs and NERC research and collaborative centres to work closely with organisations in both the commercial and research sectors.
