BESS Announcement of Opportunity: Improving modelling capability
Closing date: 17:00 on 5 December 2013
The Department of Environment & Rural Affairs (Defra), on behalf of the funders (NERC, Defra and the Scottish Government) are inviting tenders to improve modelling capability supporting integrated catchment management for improved water quality and other ecosystem services across the UK. The key aims of this three year programme are:
- to provide a forum to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration between researchers, developers and users of environmental models;
- to evaluate the performance of a selection of existing models; and
- to develop approaches to integrate them into an enhanced UK environmental modelling framework.
The project is supported by the NERC Biodiversity & Ecosystem Service Sustainability (BESS) and Macronutrients Cycles programmes, therefore it is expected that the projects will complement and inform these programmes as well as other relevant NERC and Defra programmes.
This competition is being managed by Defra, therefore applicants are referred to the tender documents located on the Defra eTendering Portal - external link for further details. These can be found by searching for the 'Developing more effective modelling for land and water management' opportunity.
