New Year Honours announcement 2014

The Natural Environment Research Council extends warmest congratulations to colleagues who have received the Queen's New Year Honours in recognition of their outstanding services to science.
Our congratulations go to:
Dr Susan Loughlin, head of volcanology at the British Geological Survey, who is awarded an MBE for services to volcanology.
Professor Paul Tyler, professor of deep-sea biology, Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Southampton and formerly of NERC's National Oceanography Centre, who is awarded an MBE for services to science.
John Hall, head of operations & logistics at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), who is awarded an MBE for services to British Antarctic science.
Professor Julia Slingo OBE, chief scientist, Met Office, and NERC Council member, who receives a DBE for services to weather and climate science.
