 This event has now closed

NERC and the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) co-sponsored this conference / exhibition.

The Aquaculture Europe 2016 (AE2016) conference, organised by the European Aquaculture Society in cooperation with Marine Scotland and the Marine Alliance for Science & Technology for Scotland, presented the latest science to support further development in aquaculture. Industry panels also discussed key opportunities and identify areas to encourage further sustainable growth in aquaculture.

AE2016 featured a special international trade exhibition, where UK and international companies, as well as NERC and BBSRC, presented their latest products, services and funding opportunities.

A special forum was arranged for students attending AE2016 to enable networking and exchange of ideas. The forum had a dedicated programme and included a special student reception. Students received the full registration package plus the student reception. To have qualified for the student rate, a copy of your student ID was required.

NERC and BBSRC involvement

NERC and BBSRC attended the event and were available at an exhibition booth throughout the conference, which expected to have over 1000 delegates. NERC and BBSRC hosted a joint grant holders' workshop on 21 September 2016 for successfully funded projects from the 2014 joint NERC-BBSRC call: Multidisciplinary proposals in sustainable aquaculture: health, disease, and the environment - external link.

The majority of principal investigators from the 2014 call were speaking at the conference.
