Presentations from experts in the field of microplastic research, and group discussion, hoped to establish scientific consensus on the risk of microplastics to aquaculture and fisheries by asking the following questions:
- Are microplastics dangerous to fish and shellfish health?
- Are microplastics in fish and shellfish of any risk to human health?
Speakers included Professor Tamara Galloway (University of Exeter), Dr Amy Lusher (Norwegian Institute for Water Research), Dr Ana Catarino (Heriot-Watt University) and Professor Jeanette Rotchell (University of Hull).
