Energy Revolution Research Consortium call - Intent to submit details published
27 July 2018
UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) has published details of an Intent to Submit received for the Energy Revolution Research Consortium (ERRC) call. This is a potential opportunity for the wider academic and non-academic communities to join the Consortium prior to the full proposal submission in order to address any gaps in expertise.
The ERRC call is part of the government's Industrial Strategy Prospering from Energy Revolution (PFER) challenge programme. It focuses on enabling whole-systems interdisciplinary capability to drive the UK energy transition and market opportunity and will be intrinsically connected to all elements of the PFER challenge.
UKRI expects to commit up to £8 million to support a single Core Energy Revolution Research Consortium (ERRC Core) and up to £4 million of extra funding, subject to budgets and approval of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund PFER Programme board, for further key research (ERRC Plus) related to the Core activity.
Following an initial Expression of Interests stage, the principal investigator and the majority of co-investigators of the consortium bid were selected to attend an ERRC community building workshop in Birmingham on 9-10 July 2018. The consortium bid team submitted a formal Intent to Submit following the workshop (see below), which has been published to facilitate the building of the Consortium in advance of the closing date for the full proposal submission on 6 September 2018.
There is no limit to the number of eligible research organisations for funding or the number of project partner organisations - wider engagement is strongly encouraged.
If you feel you or your organisation would be able to make a significant contribution by bringing complementary expertise, please contact the consortium bid team (see Intent to Submit) directly to discuss participation.
For full details on the scope, eligibility criteria and submission process of the call and workshop presentations, please refer to the published call - external link on the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) website.
Closing date for submission of full proposal: 16:00 on 6 September 2018
